Former Major League Baseball player Josh Hamilton was arrested Wednesday on a felony charge of injury to a child, according to court records obtained by Tom Steele of The Dallas Morning News.
Hamilton was booked and released in Tarrant County, Steele reports.
The 38-year-old turned himself in and a $35,000 bond was set, according to Jason Allen of CBS DFW.
One of the conditions of the bond is that Hamilton can no longer have contact with one of his daughters or any child under the age of 17, Allen adds.
According to the affidavit obtained by Steele, Hamilton's daughter told authorities that he repeatedly hit her and afterward said, "I hope you go in front of the (expletive) judge and tell him what a terrible dad I am so I don't have to see you anymore."
"Josh Hamilton voluntarily surrendered himself to Tarrant County authorities today," Hamilton's lawyers Daniel Lewis and Thomas Ashworth said in a statement Levi Weaver of The Athletic obtained. "Mr. Hamilton is innocent of the charge against him and looks forward to clearing his name in court."
Hamilton and his ex-wife, Katie, ended an 11-year marriage in 2015. The couple has three daughters together.
The former outfielder spent five years with the Texas Rangers before signing with the Los Angeles Angels, for whom he played two seasons. He last suited up as a member of the Rangers in 2015.
