During ESPN's Sunday Night Baseball broadcast, a conversation between color commentators Alex Rodriguez and Jessica Mendoza caused some consternation due to their respective roles as advisors with the New York Yankees and New York Mets.

However, it turns out A-Rod no longer holds a position with the Yankees, according to Marc Carig of The Athletic.

After joining the club as a special advisor in 2018, Rodriguez and Yankees owner Hal Steinbrenner amicably opted to end the arrangement this past winter, sources told Carig. The move was never announced.

As Carig also notes, the news is relevant due to the fact A-Rod and Mendoza had a candid on-air conversation about Mets right-hander Noah Syndergaard and why he should be a trade target of the Yankees.

Immediately prior to the 2019 season, the Mets announced they had hired Mendoza in an advisory role in their baseball operations department, though that she would also remain on ESPN's Sunday Night Baseball broadcast.

A-Rod spent 12 seasons with the Yankees during his playing career, hitting 351 home runs while stealing 152 bases over 1509 games for the Bronx Bombers.
