The Cincinnati Reds have traded second baseman Scooter Gennett to the San Francisco Giants along with cash considerations in exchange for a player to be named later, the team announced Wednesday.

Gennett, a free agent after this season, only made his 2019 debut in June after suffering a groin injury in spring training.

The 29-year-old Cincinnati native had played for his hometown club since 2017. He hit .310/.357/.490 in 2018 and was named an All-Star for the first time.
