Baseball world roasts MLB's Players' Weekend uniforms
Major League Baseball's Players' Weekend kicked off in earnest Friday, with each game featuring one team dressed in all-black uniforms and the other donning all white.
While the creative cleats on display generated a lot of positive buzz, the response to the uniforms was decidedly less generous.
References to "Star Wars" could be found.
And even to "Spaceballs."
A slew of other jokes and jeers followed.
One of the biggest complaints was the lack of visibility on the uniforms' lettering.
But Los Angeles Dodgers reliever Kenley Jansen said it's unfortunate that the only meeting between his squad and the visiting New York Yankees doesn't feature their traditional gear.
And then there's the issue of the hats. While all the position players who were in white wore matching hats, pitchers had to wear a dark hat so they couldn't hide the ball from hitters.
Not everyone was totally negative, however.
