San Francisco Giants reliever Reyes Moronta collapsed in pain with what turned out to be a shoulder injury after throwing a pitch in the sixth inning on Saturday.
Moronta, who had just entered the game, threw a 98-mph fastball to San Diego Padres shortstop Luis Urias for a swinging strike. Almost immediately after releasing the pitch and following through, he fell to the ground and looked to be screaming in pain while clutching his right arm.

Giants trainers tended to him at the mound for about a minute before Moronta left the field as a trainer stabilized his arm. Tyler Rogers replaced him.
Manager Bruce Bochy said postgame that Moronta suffered an acute right shoulder strain, according to Kerry Crowley of The Mercury News. Bochy added that the team doesn't believe he injured his elbow.
The 26-year-old will undergo an MRI on Sunday.
"He went down, so no question, there’s concern," Bochy said, according to Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com.
Moronta has emerged as a valuable reliever for the Giants this season, sporting a 2.86 ERA and 1.29 WHIP while averaging 11.1 strikeouts per nine innings in 56 appearances.
