Blue Jays set MLB record as 6th Toronto rookie hits 10-HR mark
The kids are all right.
The Toronto Blue Jays set a major-league record when outfielder Billy McKinney hit a two-run home run Sunday afternoon against the New York Yankees. McKinney's 10th round-tripper of the season made the Blue Jays the first team in MLB history to have six rookies reach the 10-homer plateau in the same season.
McKinney joins Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Bo Bichette, Cavan Biggio, Rowdy Tellez, and Danny Jansen as the club's first-year players to hit double-digit dingers.

None of Toronto's rookies have hit 20 homers yet, though there's still time for that to change.
Player | HR |
---|---|
Tellez | 19 |
Biggio | 15 |
Guerrero | 15 |
Jansen | 13 |
Bichette | 11 |
McKinney | 10 |
The Blue Jays are unlikely to add another name to the list, as fellow rookie Reese McGuire is next in line with five homers in 26 games.
