Twitter explodes during Braves' Game 5 collapse
In what was expected to be a hotly contested matchup to decide which team moves on to the National League Championship Series, the Atlanta Braves imploded in the first inning, with the St. Louis Cardinals sending 14 players to the plate and scoring 10 runs.
Twitter exploded as the home team's win probability plummeted to 2.1% just a half-inning into the game, according to FanGraphs.
Atlanta Hawks point guard Trae Young couldn't believe his eyes. Even a 10-0 run in hoops is pretty dominant:
There’s no way this is happening right now🙀😱

Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Adam Jones also chimed in:
Wow #NLDS

The pundits weighed in too, suggesting the visiting club shouldn't even bother sending out its expected starter, Jack Flaherty, and the Cardinals should instead rest their ace for the forthcoming NLCS clash with either the Los Angeles Dodgers or Washington Nationals:
At this point you just give Jack Flaherty the rest of the day off, right?

Another writer suggested that if there's one team constructed to score 10 runs in an inning without the help of even a single homer in 2019, it's the Cardinals:
If you had told me a team would score 10 runs in an inning in the 2019 playoffs without hitting a home run, I would have probably guessed Cardinals.

Others started searching for the reset button, or simply looking forward to the contest later tonight between the Nationals and Dodgers :

Most folks just decided to commiserate over the Braves' foibles, though:
