Francisco Lindor might be staying in Ohio even if the superstar shortstop does get traded.

The Cincinnati Reds are the latest team to enter the Lindor sweepstakes, engaging with the Cleveland Indians regarding a potential trade, according to Mark Feinsand of MLB.com. It's unclear if there's any traction, Feinsand adds.

The two clubs brokered a blockbuster prior to this past trade deadline, acquiring Trevor Bauer in a three-team swap that sent top outfield prospect Taylor Trammell to the San Diego Padres.

Cincinnati has been aggressive of late. On top of trading for Bauer, the club signed Mike Moustakas to a four-year, $64-million deal. With Moustakas' addition, the infield picture is increasingly clear for the Reds heading into 2020, with Joey Votto at first base, Eugenio Suarez at third, and Freddy Galvis at short.

The Indians reportedly like top Reds prospect Nick Senzel, who could be a part of any potential deal between the state rivals, according to Jon Heyman of MLB Network. Originally an infield prospect, Senzel has been converted to an outfielder by Cincinnati, hitting .256/.315/.427 with 12 home runs and 14 stolen bases over 104 games in the big leagues last year.

Lindor is heading into his second season of arbitration eligibility and is projected to earn $16.7 million next year, according to MLB Trade Rumors. The 26-year-old hit .284/.335/.518 last year with 32 homers and 22 steals over 143 games.

Indians president of baseball operations Chris Antonetti has gone on record saying he does not expect his team to trade Lindor. However, since then, the Indians have dealt two-time Cy Young winner Corey Kluber to the Texas Rangers.

The Los Angeles Dodgers are also reportedly interested in acquiring Lindor.
