The Kansas City Royals agreed to a one-year, $3-million contract with third baseman Maikel Franco, according to Jeff Passan of ESPN.
The deal also includes $1 million worth of incentives, according to Jon Heyman of MLB Network.
The Philadelphia Phillies non-tendered Franco last month, making him a free agent.
Franco, 27, is expected to be the everyday third baseman for the Royals. Incumbent third baseman Hunter Dozier will likely move to the outfield.
After breaking into the league in 2015 and showing promise with a .840 OPS over 80 games, Franco has struggled at the major-league level. Over 123 games in 2019, the young slugger hit .234/.297/.409 with 17 homers and 17 doubles.
