Report: Marlins, Corey Dickerson agree to 2-year, $17.5M deal
The Miami Marlins and free-agent outfielder Corey Dickerson have agreed to a two-year contract, reports Craig Mish of FNTSY Sports Radio, who adds the deal is pending a physical.
The deal is worth $17.5 million, a source told MLB.com's Mark Feinsand.
Dickerson and fellow free-agent outfielder Yasiel Puig had been linked to the Marlins early Saturday.
The Marlins finished second-last in baseball this past season in offensive production from the outfield. Their outfielders slashed a combined .238/.304/.386 and were worth 1.2 WAR, according to FanGraphs.
Dickerson hit .304/.341/.565 with 12 home runs, 28 doubles, and 59 RBIs in 78 games last season split between the Pittsburgh Pirates and Philadelphia Phillies.
The 30-year-old missed most of 2019 with a fractured left foot but has been reasonably durable through his career, appearing in at least 131 games in four of his seven big-league campaigns. Since debuting with the Colorado Rockies in 2013, Dickerson has slashed .286/.328/.504 with 115 homers and 370 RBIs in 776 games.
He'll join a Marlins outfield mix that is also expected to include Brian Anderson, Lewis Brinson, and Harold Ramirez.
Dickerson is the latest veteran acquisition by Miami's front office. The Marlins have already signed Matt Kemp, Yimi Garcia, and Francisco Cervelli, claimed Jesus Aguilar off waivers, and traded for Jonathan Villar.
