Dodgers sign Muncy to 3-year extension worth reported $26M
The Los Angeles Dodgers signed infielder Max Muncy to a three-year contract extension, the team announced Thursday.
The agreement is for $26 million and includes a $13-million option for a fourth year with a $1.5-million buyout, sources told The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal.
Additionally, Muncy's contract comes with a $4.5-million signing bonus, according to Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times.
The 29-year-old slugger has been a huge part of the Dodgers' lineup over the past two seasons, hitting .256/.381/.545 with 70 home runs and 177 RBIs. He appeared in his first All-Star Game in 2019.
It's been a busy week for the Dodgers, who reportedly acquired Mookie Betts and David Price in a three-team trade with the Boston Red Sox and Minnesota Twins on Tuesday, and also reportedly dealt Joc Pederson and Ross Stripling to the Los Angeles Angels.
