Toronto mayor: Blue Jays asked about playing 'here or elsewhere'
With Major League Baseball seemingly inching toward a workable plan for the 2020 season, Toronto Blue Jays executives approached city mayor John Tory about the possibility of playing "here or elsewhere," according to Lucas Meyer of NEWSTALK 1010.
The news comes in the wake of growing optimism that a plan to get the 2020 campaign underway in 20 stadiums across 10-12 states is viable. However, there has been no mention of hosting games in Toronto - the lone international city in MLB.
Tory has also had preliminary, high-level discussions with the NHL regarding their season, but offered no concrete developments, Meyer added.
The mayor also said the city and provincial government are working with the Toronto Raptors to potentially reopen their practice facility, and noted it is "moving forward quite nicely," according to the Canadian Press.
