You know the story by now. The Boston Red Sox sold Babe Ruth to the New York Yankees over 100 years ago now and, while the Pinstripes prospered, the Sox wallowed in despair. Mediocrity was the most Fenway faithful could expect for over eight decades.
That all ended in 2004 after Boston came back from a 0-3 deficit in the ALCS against the Yankees and then absolutely steamrolled the Cardinals en route to their first championship since The Great War.
