Blackmon: Players can be trusted to stay safe if baseball returns

Colorado Rockies outfielder Charlie Blackmon is ready to return to the diamond as soon as possible.

The four-time All-Star told MLB Network Radio that the Center for Disease Control and other health officials should be trusted if they say it's safe to start the season in any form.

He added that it's reasonable to expect players to be responsible for their own health.

"I think we're forgetting that people can keep themselves safe," he said. "I just don't want to prolong this summer without baseball because we're arguing over details about the health and safety."

Blackmon said that quarantine won't be administered in a way that keeps players locked away 24 hours a day.

"You can't put people in a bubble," he said. "But at the same time, I think I can trust our guys. ... I think we can be trusted not to go to the mall and lick other people's faces."
