White Sox select prep ace Jared Kelley No. 47 overall
With the 47th pick in the 2020 MLB Draft, the Chicago White Sox selected Jared Kelley, a pitcher out of Refugio High School in Texas.
The hard-throwing right-hander makes history as the first baseball player ever to be drafted out of Refugio, and he's considered by some to be the best prep pitcher to come out of Texas since Jameson Taillon in 2010.
Ranked 12th overall among draft prospects by MLB Pipeline and originally expected to go early in the first round, Kelley dropped to the White Sox in the early stages of Day 2 of the draft due to signability concerns.
