Correa asks wife to avoid salon until end of season for safety
Houston Astros shortstop Carlos Correa is erring on the side of caution during the pandemic and has asked his wife, Daniella Correa Rodriguez, to stay out of beauty salons while he plays baseball.
"When I talk to my wife she knows," the former All-Star told the Associated Press on Sunday. "No getting your nails done. No getting your hair done right now. So we're going to be home. We're going to focus on the baseball season and once everything is done, then you can go to get your nails done and do everything else."
Correa, 25, famously proposed to his then-girlfriend following the team's World Series victory in 2017. The couple officially got married this past December.
"We know what it takes to make the season possible," Correa continued. "What we're doing is we come to work out and we go back to our houses. I think that's the key ... I think if we can keep it simple. Simple as come get your work in and go back home, get some rest, I think we'll be able to be fine and be able to carry on with the season."
Players began reporting to camps this past week after Major League Baseball mandated a 60-game season slated to begin on July 23. During intake, many players have tested positive for coronavirus and have had to be quarantined from the team, including one unnamed member of the Astros.
Many other players have decided to opt out of the forthcoming season, including Arizona Diamondbacks right-hander Mike Leake, Colorado Rockies outfielder Ian Desmond, and, most recently, Los Angeles Dodgers lefty David Price.
