Reds place Moustakas on IL for undisclosed reason
The Cincinnati Reds have placed infielder Mike Moustakas on the injured list hours after the team scratched him from Sunday's starting lineup, the team announced.
Cincinnati clarified that Moustakas isn't being placed on the 10-day IL, according to John Fay of the Cincinnati Enquirer.
The Reds did not disclose why Moustakas was placed on the IL, but the 31-year-old told manager David Bell earlier Sunday that he wasn't feeling well, according to Bobby Nightengale of the Cincinnati Enquirer.
Bell said the Reds were hopeful that it was nothing, but added that the team scratched Moustakas from Sunday's contest because it wanted to be overly cautious with the slugger, who signed a four-year, $64-million deal with the club in December.
Moustakas suited up for the Reds in their first two games of the season against the Detroit Tigers, hitting a home run and driving in four runs in their opener Friday.
Cincinnati recalled catcher Tyler Stephenson from its alternate training site in a corresponding move.
