MLB reacts to Joe Kelly's 8-game suspension
Major League Baseball dropped the hammer on Los Angeles Dodgers reliever Joe Kelly by suspending him for eight games after he threw close to the heads of Houston Astros infielders Carlos Correa and Alex Bregman on Tuesday.
The ban is the equivalent of a 22-game suspension in a normal 162-game schedule. Here is how some current and former MLB players have reacted to the news.
Marcus Stroman, Mets
Makes zero sense Ken. He wasn’t even thrown out of the game. MLB siding with/protecting a team that openly and knowingly cheated their way to a World Series. He doesn’t deserve to be suspended at all. Hoping he wins his appeal. Looking forward to seeing you back out there JK! pic.twitter.com/Lekx8NHLRp

Mike Clevinger, Indians
I can’t believe wtf is going on the @MLB right now......I’m just as lost as all of you at home ✌️🌞 #PeopleDontForget https://t.co/PHfL4ZyNNw

And what do the astros players deserve Jon? Just snitch and walk free and still seem confused as to why everyone is mad? https://t.co/Iztyr30NXy

Keynan Middleton, Angels

Jered Weaver, longtime Angels starter
😂😂😂 8 games! What a joke.. @mlb is so soft anymore it’s kinda embarrassing.. people should just keep cheating because apparently there is 0 game suspensions for that 😂

Jimmy Nelson, Dodgers
Absolute joke.

Sam Tuivailala, free agent
You would think he would’ve gotten thrown out of the game by the umpire. He finished the inning and gets suspended lol Damn https://t.co/seki1kDAbL

Cody Decker, former Padres infielder
Joe Kelly, who wasnt ejected from last nights game, just received a far harsher punishment than the Astros did for cheating for 3 years. Amazing. https://t.co/wyoUjDY8xB

And finally, Angels manager Joe Maddon elected not to wade into the discussion despite being asked.
Joe Maddon on if he had any thoughts on Joe Kelly's suspension: "I don't. That's not my gig. I'm an Angel. Not a Dodger."
