The Houston Astros are placing third baseman Alex Bregman on the injured list with a right hamstring strain, manager Dusty Baker said Thursday, according to Chandler Rome of The Houston Chronicle.

Bregman will travel to Houston for an MRI. There is currently no timetable for his return.

The two-time All-Star was removed from Wednesday's game against the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field with hamstring discomfort after hobbling toward second base for a double in the fourth inning.

Abraham Toro will replace Bregman at third base for Thursday's contest.

The 26-year-old Bregman is hitting .272/.374/.500 with four home runs, nine doubles, and 14 RBIs.

Left-hander Cionel Perez will be called up to replace Bregman on the big-league roster, according to MLB.com's Brian McTaggart.
