White Sox acquire Dyson from Pirates
The Chicago White Sox appear to be preparing for postseason baseball.
Chicago acquired speedy outfielder Jarrod Dyson from Pittsburgh, the Pirates announced.
The Pirates received $243,300 in international slot money for the 2019-20 signing period, which was extended through Oct. 15, according to Adam Berry of MLB.com.
Dyson has struggled at the plate this season, slashing just .157/.218/.157 in 21 games for the Pirates. The 36-year-old remains one of baseball's elite base-stealers, though, as he swiped 30 bags last season with the Arizona Diamondbacks and is a perfect 4-for-4 so far in 2020.
Chicago sits third in the AL Central with a 19-12 record. Dyson could serve as a valuable pinch runner or defensive replacement for the White Sox down the stretch and in the playoffs.
