The Houston Astros and Oakland Athletics will not play Friday, which Major League Baseball is celebrating as Jackie Robinson Day.

The teams took the field in their No. 42 jerseys but walked off after a 42-second moment of silence.

Houston has not played since Aug. 25, with postponements due to Tropical Storm Laura.

Each team left a jersey with the No. 42 in the batter's box, also placing a Black Lives Matter t-shirt over home plate.

Jackie Robinson Day is scheduled annually for April 15. However, with the 2020 season delayed due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, MLB postponed the commemorative day to Aug. 28.
