Yankees get Stanton, Urshela back ahead of Blue Jays series
The New York Yankees' lineup is getting some reinforcements before their three-game series against the Toronto Blue Jays begins Tuesday.
Designated hitter Giancarlo Stanton, infielder Gio Urshela, and right-hander Jonathan Loaisiga were reinstated from the injured list, the team announced.
Stanton and Urshela are both in Tuesday's starting lineup.
Stanton hasn't played since Aug. 8 due to a left hamstring strain. The 30-year-old had a 1.038 OPS with three home runs and seven RBIs in 14 games before the injury.
Urshela landed on the IL with a bone spur in his right elbow on Sept. 4. He was in the midst of a solid campaign with a .272/.358/.515 slash line, six homers, and 23 RBIs in 31 games.
Loaisiga was enjoying a career year before an undisclosed medical condition caused him to miss the past two weeks. In eight games - three starts - the 25-year-old owned a 2-0 record with a 3.18 ERA and 1.06 WHIP in 17 innings.
The Yankees also announced infielder Mike Ford and utility player Miguel Andujar were optioned to the team's alternate training site.
