Rays' Morton: 'No words to describe' how good Arozarena really is
Tampa Bay Rays outfielder Randy Arozarena has gone on a tear during the postseason and his teammates believe they're witnessing the next big star come into his own.
"I've never seen anything like this," Game 3 starter Charlie Morton said of Arozarena after the Rays defeated the New York Yankees on Wednesday, according to MLB.com's Juan Toribio. "Honestly, there are no words to describe it. It's incredible."
Arozarena hit his third home run in three games against New York during Tampa's 8-4 win and has authored a remarkable .600/.636/1.250 slash line during the 2020 playoffs so far.
Two of his three homers against the Yankees have come in the first inning, where Arozarena has found a home as Tampa's No. 3 hitter. His 5th-inning homer off Masahiro Tanaka in Game 3 was on the first pitch.

"He’s got a good approach and he's sticking to it," said Yankees catcher Kyle Higashioka, who caught Game 3. "I don’t think I've ever seen before where a guy punishes every single mistake. We can't get away with anything against him right now, so it's been pretty frustrating."
The 25-year-old was virtually unknown when the Rays acquired him from the St. Louis Cardinals in January.
The Cuban native came into his own during the regular season after he missed all of Rays summer camp for an undisclosed reason, and he torched opposing pitchers to the tune of a .281/.382/.641 line with seven homers and 11 RBIs.
However, the postseason stage is where he's really launched himself into the spotlight.
"He's the best player on the planet, he's incredible," Kevin Kiermaier said of his blossoming teammate.
"I think we can all take a page out of his book and what his routine is and how he comes to the field each and every day. He just doesn't think up there. He's just so raw in every facet of his game, and he goes out there and just does it night in and night out, it's incredible."
