Rays' Arozarena sets record for most HRs in single postseason

Tampa Bay Rays rookie Randy Arozarena set the record for the most home runs in a single postseason, mashing his ninth of the 2020 playoffs in the fourth inning of Game 4 of the World Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Barry Bonds, Carlos Beltran, Nelson Cruz, Corey Seager, and Arozarena previously held a five-way tie for the record. Seager had joined the club earlier in Saturday's Game 4.

Arozarena, 25, also tied Tampa Bay's franchise record for total postseason home runs, previously held by Evan Longoria, according to Sarah Langs of MLB.com. Longoria, now with the San Francisco Giants, hit nine playoff homers across four different postseasons in 2008, 2010-11, and 2013.

Arozarena has played 42 total regular-season games. He's also already set the record for most hits by a rookie in a single postseason, surpassing Derek Jeter.

During Game 4, Arozarena also recorded his 26th hit, tying Pablo Sandoval for the most base knocks in a postseason, according to Jayson Stark of The Athletic.
