Report: Rosario drawing interest from Red Sox
Eddie Rosario may not be out of work for very long.
The outfielder, who was non-tendered by the Minnesota Twins on Wednesday, is attracting interest from the Boston Red Sox, sources told MLB Network's Jon Morosi.
Rosario would likely be asked to handle the intricacies of right field in Fenway Park, Morosi adds, which could prove difficult considering Rosario's been an inconsistent defender.

SEASON | DRS | UZR |
---|---|---|
2015 | 9 | 9.8 |
2016 | 3 | -0.3 |
2017 | -11 | -0.1 |
2018 | 8 | 3.1 |
2019 | -8 | -5.6 |
2020 | 3 | 1.2 |
The 29-year-old is still a capable power hitter, which could make up for his lacking glove and low on-base percentage. Rosario ranks seventh in home runs (96) and ninth in slugging percentage (.493) among American League outfielders since 2017, according to FanGraphs.
Boston's outfield is expected to contain Andrew Benintendi and Alex Verdugo next season, with Michael Chavis as an option. J.D. Martinez also made six appearances in the Red Sox outfield last season.
