Friday marked the opening of Major League Baseball's international signing period.
Players were initially slated to be eligible to sign on July 2, 2020, but the window was pushed back to Jan. 15, 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Each club uses its own spending pool to sign international prospects. The Cincinnati Reds, Detroit Tigers, Miami Marlins, Milwaukee Brewers, Minnesota Twins, and Tampa Bay Rays own the largest pools at $6,431,000, while the Atlanta Braves hold the smallest at $1,572,000 due to a previous penalty for violating international signing rules.
Here's a list of the top-25 international free agents and where they signed, according to Jesse Sanchez of MLB.com. This list will be updated as signings are announced.
