Shapiro: 'Heavy lifting is done' for Blue Jays after busy offseason
It doesn't appear the Toronto Blue Jays will make any more big moves after acquiring George Springer, Marcus Semien, Kirby Yates, and Tyler Chatwood.
The "bulk of our heavy lifting is done," Blue Jays president Mark Shapiro said during Springer's introductory press conference on Wednesday.
Shapiro added the organization still has "some flexibility" for the baseball operations team to get creative and continue to improve the club.
General manager Ross Atkins said pitching is the remaining order of business and that the Blue Jays would continue to explore options via trade and in free agency, according to the Toronto Sun's Rob Longley.
Toronto has been linked to several pitchers this offseason, though it's unlikely it'll continue to be in the running for 2020 NL Cy Young winner Trevor Bauer.
Aside from Bauer, the Blue Jays have been connected to starting pitchers Jake Odorizzi and James Paxton.
The Blue Jays' 26-man Opening Day payroll sits at $125.5 million after they handed out a combined $184.5 million to Springer, Semien, Yates, Chatwood, and Robbie Ray, according to Cots Baseball Contracts.
