Report: Reds, Sean Doolittle agree to 1-year, $1.5M deal
The Cincinnati Reds and left-handed closer Sean Doolittle are in agreement on a one-year, $1.5-million contract, Jon Morosi of MLB Network reports.
The two-time All-Star has spent the previous three and a half years with the Washington Nationals, where the 34-year-old helped the club win the franchise's first World Series in 2019.
Doolittle is coming off an injury-plagued 2020 season, during which he was sidelined with knee and oblique ailments. Managing to throw 7 2/3 innings, the southpaw posted a 5.87 ERA and 8.28 FIP.
Doolittle was relatively ineffective the previous year as well, authoring a 4.05 ERA and 4.25 FIP over 60 frames while leading the NL in games finished and notching 29 saves.
Over his nine-year career including six seasons with the Oakland Athletics, Doolittle has collected 111 saves while managing a 3.07 ERA and 2.79 FIP.
