The San Francisco Giants and left-handed reliever Jake McGee agreed to a two-year, $7-million contract, Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports.

McGee authored a 2.66 ERA and 1.67 FIP over 20 1/3 innings last year as a member of the division rival Los Angeles Dodgers. His 38% strikeout-minus-walk rate was the second highest among qualified relievers in 2020, behind only Milwaukee Brewers right-hander Devin Williams, according to FanGraphs.

The 34-year-old has pitched to mixed results over his career. After posting an impressive 2.07 ERA and 1.94 FIP over 108 2/3 innings in his final two seasons with the Tampa Bay Rays in 2014-15, McGee landed a three-year, $27-million contract with the Colorado Rockies. He finished above replacement level just once over the next four campaigns with Colorado, owning a 4.78 ERA and 4.65 FIP in 195 2/3 frames from 2016-19.

McGee immediately becomes the go-to lefty in the Giants' bullpen, with Jarlin Garcia being the other southpaw. Tony Watson remains a free agent, and the club already lost Jerry Blevins on the open market, so McGee joins a relief corps led by Reyes Moronta and Tyler Rogers.
