Jed Lowrie will try to revive his career in familiar colors.

The veteran infielder returned to the Oakland Athletics on Wednesday, signing a minor-league contract that includes an invitation to spring training.

It will mark Lowrie's third stint with the A's organization, having previously played with the team from 2013-14 and again from 2016-18.

Lowrie is looking to make a comeback after a disastrous, injury-riddled run with the New York Mets. The 2018 All-Star played in just nine games with the Mets - all in 2019 - due to a lingering knee injury after signing a two-year, $20-million contract. He didn't record a hit with New York.

The 36-year-old will likely compete for a bench job with Oakland, where his infield versatility could come in handy for a team that lost longtime shortstop Marcus Semien this winter. Lowrie has spent significant time at shortstop, third base, and second during his career.

Over parts of 12 seasons with four teams, Lowrie owns a .261/.335/.413 slash line with 1,043 hits, 104 home runs, and 509 RBIs.
