Report: D-Backs agree to 1-year with Asdrubal Cabrera
The Arizona Diamondbacks added a veteran to their infield Friday, agreeing to a one-year, $1.75-million contract with Asdrubal Cabrera, Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports.
The deal also contains $1.05 million worth of incentives, according to Heyman.
Cabrera, 35, appeared in 52 games for the Washington Nationals last season, slashing .242/.305/.447 with eight home runs, 20 extra-base hits, and 31 RBIs while splitting time defensively between first and third base. He was an important bench piece on the Nats' 2019 World Series championship team.
In Arizona, the two-time All-Star will likely provide depth as a versatile player who can step in at all four infield positions and also serve as a pinch hitter.
Cabrera owns a lifetime .756 OPS with 188 homers across parts of 14 seasons with six teams.
