Pete Alonso promises to have a better year in 2021.

The New York Mets first baseman recently admitted he's "feeling dangerous" ahead of the upcoming season and plans to have the same kind of success he achieved during his historic rookie campaign.

"Last season, I failed more than any time in my career, and that simply won't happen again because of my preparation and will to succeed," he told the New York Post's Steve Serby.

Alonso won National League Rookie of the Year and finished seventh in MVP voting in 2019 when he led the majors with 53 home runs - a rookie record.

The one-time Home Run Derby champion took a step back last season when his OPS and isolated power took significant dips. However, he remains confident in his ability to produce for a budding Mets squad that looks like a favorite to win the NL East following a busy offseason.

"This is the best I've felt physically and mentally in my career. I'm ready to make history and ready to drive in 130 steaks," Alonso said.
