Report: A's agree to 1-year deals with Romo, Petit
The Oakland Athletics have agreed to one-year deals with right-handed relievers Yusmeiro Petit and Sergio Romo, sources told ESPN's Jeff Passan.
Romo will receive $2.25 million while Petit's deal is worth $2.55 million.
Petit has been a workhorse for the A's over the last three seasons, authoring a 2.73 ERA during 180 appearances.
The 36-year-old owns a 1.16 WHIP through 826 innings for six different teams over the course of his 13-year career.
Romo, 37, spent the past season-and-a-half with the Minnesota Twins, recording a 3.59 ERA with eight saves. The California native also struck out 10.5 hitters per nine for the Twins.
The veteran pair will bring stability to an A's bullpen expecting to be anchored by new closer Jake Diekman after losing Liam Hendriks to the Chicago White Sox in free agency.
Oakland's front office has been busy in the past couple of weeks. In addition to Petit and Romo, the A's added Elvis Andrus and Adam Kolarek in trades while also signing second baseman Jed Lowrie and pitcher Mike Fiers.
