Yankees' Boone: It's time for Domingo German to 'resurrect his career'
New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone believes right-hander Domingo German is in a "good place" coming into spring training after the 28-year-old missed the entire 2020 season because of a domestic violence suspension.
"He's paid a significant price from a career standpoint. ... Hopefully, that is behind us," Boone said of German, according to YES Network. Boone added, "Now it's on him to go out and kind of resurrect his career."
German was placed on administrative leave in September 2019 under the joint MLB-MLBPA domestic violence policy for allegedly slapping his girlfriend following a charity event. No criminal charges were filed.
In January 2020, German was suspended for 81 games following an MLB investigation, 18 of which he served during his administrative leave.
German posted an Instagram story in July 2020 saying he had "left baseball." He later retracted the statement and said he looked forward to returning to the Yankees.
