Johnny Damon promises accountability after DUI

Retired outfielder Johnny Damon apologized after he was arrested last week in Florida and charged with driving under the influence and resisting an officer without violence.

"I'm always accountable for my actions and we'll see what happens soon," the 47-year-old said, according to WEEI's John Healy. "I will be honest with you and always be accountable ... I apologize and hopefully I can answer more questions later on."

Damon was pulled over on Feb. 19 after police noticed his SUV was swerving around the road following an outing with his wife, according to a police report obtained by TMZ.

Police said Damon was slurring his speech and was unsteady on his feet.

A breathalyzer test showed Damon's blood alcohol was .30, which is nearly four times the state's legal limit, according to the police report.

Damon's wife, Michelle Mangan-Damon, was also arrested for battery on a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest with violence after she shoved a police officer.
