Shin-Soo Choo signs in Korea
Shin-Soo Choo is headed to the Korean Baseball Organization.
Choo signed a one-year deal worth $2.4 million with SK Wyverns, according to KBO beat writer San Kang.
The SK Wyverns held Choo's rights in Korea because they drafted him in 2007 while he was a member of the Cleveland Indians, according to Sung Min Kim of The Athletic.
The team is going through a rebrand after being purchased by Shinsegae, which means it will have a new name when Choo joins, Kim notes.
Choo, 38, spent 16 seasons in MLB with the Indians, Seattle Mariners, Cincinnati Reds, and Texas Rangers. The outfielder most recently appeared with the Rangers, hitting .236/.323/.400 with five home runs and six steals over 33 games last year.
The one-time All-Star played a total of 1,652 games in MLB, posting an .824 OPS with 218 homers and 157 stolen bases while accruing 35.4 WAR, according to FanGraphs.
