Rockies to host 2021 MLB All-Star Game
The Colorado Rockies are the new hosts for the 2021 All-Star Game.
MLB announced Coors Field as the new host ballpark Tuesday. The game is scheduled to take place July 13.
"MLB chose the Rockies because they were already in the bidding process to host a future All-Star Game," the league said in a statement. "The Rockies had supplied a detailed plan for hotel, event space, and security that took months to assemble, and MLB staff had already made several site visits to Denver."
Coors Field last held the All-Star Game in 1998.
Major League Baseball announced Friday that the Atlanta Braves would no longer host the Midsummer Classic at Truist Park due to the passing of a new voting law in Georgia that critics argue will suppress Black and other minority turnout.
Following commissioner Rob Manfred's announcement, the Braves expressed their disappointment at the league's decision to change the venue of the annual festivities and the amateur draft.
