The Toronto Blue Jays are waiting for the results of George Springer's MRI after the outfielder experienced right quad tightness while running the bases during batting practice Tuesday, manager Charlie Montoyo told reporters Wednesday, including Sportsnet's Arden Zwelling.
"Everybody's concerned because those injuries, you just never know where they are," Montoyo said, according to The Associated Press. "It’s tough because you've got to be careful, just like with the oblique. Because if you pull it worse then you're really out for a long time. So that's the one thing about those injuries for anybody, that you have to be patient, be careful."
Springer was expected to be activated from the injured list and make his Blue Jays debut Thursday against the Los Angeles Angels.
The 31-year-old now likely won't play Thursday, according to Zwelling, although that hasn't been confirmed by the team.
Springer hasn't appeared in a game for Toronto this season while he recovers from an oblique strain.
The Blue Jays signed the three-time All-Star to a six-year, $150-million contract in January.
