Chicago White Sox catcher Yasmani Grandal has been activated off the 10-day injured list, the team announced Friday.
Grandal has been sidelined since July 5 after undergoing surgery to repair a torn tendon in his left knee. The 32-year-old has been on assignment at Triple-A Charlotte and Double-A Birmingham for the last couple of weeks, appearing in 11 games.
The club optioned catcher Zack Collins to Charlotte to make room for Grandal on the roster.
Grandal owns a .188/.388/.436 slash line with 14 home runs, 38 RBI, and 60 walks over 63 games this season. The White Sox are sitting comfortably atop the AL Central, nine games ahead of the Cleveland Indians.
