Matt Vasgersian leaving ESPN's Sunday Night Baseball broadcasts

Sunday Night Baseball will have a new voice next summer.

Veteran play-by-play man Matt Vasgersian chose to leave ESPN's Sunday night showcase to focus on other opportunities, he confirmed to Andrew Marchand of the New York Post.

The 54-year-old will continue to call national games and anchor programs on MLB Network. He also began working as the Los Angeles Angels' TV voice this season and could expand his work on the Halos' local telecasts next year.

"I decided to call it a wrap on Sunday Night Baseball," Vasgersian told Marchand. "I can't do everything I enjoy with MLB Network and the Angels while still being away for nearly 30 weekends a year."

Vasgersian succeeded Dan Shulman as the voice of Sunday Night Baseball in 2018. He worked alongside Alex Rodriguez, who was part of the previous Sunday night team.

While Rodriguez's contract with ESPN is up, there's a chance he'll return as part of a new booth in 2022, Marchand reports.
