India, drafted fifth overall by the Reds in 2018, slashed .269/.376/.459 with 21 homers, 69 RBIs, and 12 stolen bases. He led all rookie position players in OBP, games (150), doubles (34), walks (71), runs (98), and WAR (3.9).
He's the eighth Reds player to win this award and first since Scott Williamson in 1999. India is also the first NL second baseman to take home this honor since Steve Sax in 1982.
Atlanta Braves right-hander Ian Anderson, who finished in fifth place, became one of only three players to receive Rookie of the Year votes in two different seasons, joining Gregg Jefferies in 1988 and '89 and Ryan Mountcastle in 2020 and '21, according to Sarah Langs of MLB.com. Anderson finished seventh following the pandemic-shortened 2020 campaign.
