The extension covers the final year of Diaz's arbitration.
Diaz, 31, had a breakout campaign for the Rockies in 2021, slashing .246/.310/.464 with 18 home runs and 44 RBIs in 106 games. He also recorded nine defensive runs saved, which ranked third among MLB catchers with at least 750 innings caught, according to FanGraphs.
The Rockies have been busy this offseason, inking pitcher Jhoulys Chacin to a one-year deal while Charlie Blackmon exercised his $21-million option for the 2022 campaign.
Colorado also signed right-hander Antonio Senzatela to a five-year, $50.5-million contract and first baseman C.J. Cron to a two-year, $14.5-million deal in October.
