Report: Rangers' busy day continues with Calhoun deal

The Texas Rangers and free-agent outfielder Kole Calhoun are in agreement on a one-year, $5.2-million deal, reports MLB.com's Mark Feinsand.

Calhoun spent the past two seasons with the Arizona Diamondbacks after playing the first eight years of his career with the Los Angeles Angels.

The D-Backs decided not to exercise the $9-million team option on Calhoun's 2022 contract after he struggled to a .235/.297/.373 slash line with five home runs in 51 games last season.

The left-handed-hitting Calhoun produced a .230/.320/.455 slash line with 21 homers and 57 RBIs during his two seasons in Arizona, including a .778 OPS against right-handed pitching last year.

His reported signing comes amid a busy day for the Rangers, who also apparently agreed to a seven-year, $175-million deal with infielder Marcus Semien.
