Angels, Lorenzen agree to 1-year, $6.75M deal

The Los Angeles Angels and right-hander Michael Lorenzen agreed to a one-year, $6.75M deal.

Lorenzen will be in the Angels' rotation.

The 29-year-old, who has ambitions of being a two-way player like American League MVP Shohei Ohtani, previously spent his entire career with the Cincinnati Reds. He's pitched mostly out of the bullpen, as only 26 of Lorenzen's 295 career outings have been starts.

Lorenzen struggled to a 5.59 ERA in 29 innings last season, missing most of the campaign with shoulder and hamstring strains. His best season came in 2019 when he struck out 85 in 83 1/3 frames.

The California native also owns a .233/.282/.429 slash line while appearing in 34 games as an outfielder.

Lorenzen is the latest move by an Angels' front office that's also acquired pitchers Noah Syndergaard and Aaron Loup this offseason.
