Report: Yankees' Andujar assaulted during robbery in Dominican Republic
New York Yankees utility player Miguel Andujar was beaten and robbed at gunpoint in the Dominican Republic, according to a Google translation of a story written by ESPN's John Arthur Recio.
However, he's reportedly "out of danger."
Two individuals apparently assaulted Andujar at his farm around midnight Wednesday. They also stripped him of his belongings, including a $7,000 gold chain.
The assailants reportedly told Andujar they had disconnected the surveillance systems at his property before threatening him.
The individuals apparently fired their weapons three times during the incident, with no bullets striking Andujar. A bullet did hit the finger of a person on his property, however.
Andujar is still scheduled to arrive in Tampa for spring training Saturday despite the incident.
The 27-year-old was once a highly touted Yankees prospect. He hit 27 home runs and 92 RBIs for the Bronx Bombers in 2018.
Andujar has since fallen out of favor in New York, appearing in just 78 games since 2019.
