Report: Nationals, Nelson Cruz agree to 1-year, $15M deal

The Washington Nationals are in agreement with free-agent designated hitter Nelson Cruz on a one-year, $15-million contract, reports The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal.

The 41-year-old enjoyed another excellent season in 2021 for the Minnesota Twins and Tampa Bay Rays, hitting .265/.334/.497 with 32 home runs and 86 RBIs in 140 games.
Cruz will look to form a dynamic duo in the Nationals' lineup with young superstar Juan Soto in 2022.
The seven-time All-Star is a lifetime .277/.346/.527 hitter with 449 home runs and 1,238 RBIs in 1,882 games. He also made stops with the Milwaukee Brewers, Texas Rangers, Baltimore Orioles, and Seattle Mariners.
