Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Jose Berrios was removed from Friday's game against the Texas Rangers after recording just one out in the first inning.

Berrios allowed a leadoff home run to Brad Miller and hits to Corey Seager and Nathaniel Lowe before Blue Jays manager Charlie Montoyo pulled him after 34 pitches.

He ended up allowing four runs off three hits and a pair of walks.

Left-hander Taylor Saucedo replaced Berrios, who was making his third career Opening Day start and first with the Blue Jays.

Toronto acquired Berrios from the Minnesota Twins last season for Austin Martin and Simeon Woods Richardson.

Berrios inked a seven-year, $131-million contract extension in November. The 27-year-old posted a 3.58 ERA with 78 strikeouts in 12 starts for the Blue Jays last season.
