The United States Capitol complex was evacuated on Wednesday after the U.S. Army parachuted into Nationals Park as part of a celebration on Military Appreciation Night.

Ten minutes after sending the initial alert, U.S. Capitol Police announced "the Capitol was evacuated out of an abundance of caution," and there was "no threat."

The U.S. Capitol Police sent the initial evacuation alert after tracking an aircraft that wasn't responding to communication, according to Heather Caygle of Punchbowl News.
