Report: Padres discussing Lamet trade with other teams
The San Diego Padres are discussing potential trades involving right-hander Dinelson Lamet with other clubs, sources told The Athletic's Dennis Lin.
San Diego is looking to create some flexibility for potential offensive additions, and clearing Lamet's $4.775-million salary could pave the way, Lin reports.
Lamet has been pitching out of the bullpen this season and has registered a 5.40 ERA and a 12.15 K/9 in seven appearances.
The 29-year-old's best season came in 2020 when he posted a 3-1 record with a 2.09 ERA and 93 strikeouts in 69 innings en route to a fourth-place finish in NL Cy Young voting. However, a biceps injury ended Lamet's campaign early.
The five-year veteran owns a career 15-18 record with a 3.89 ERA and 403 strikeouts in 310 innings.
