The Chicago Cubs placed infielder Jonathan Villar on the 10-day injured list with a mouth injury.
Villar needs significant dental work after injuring himself when an exercise band he was using snapped back into his mouth, according to the Chicago Tribune's Meghan Montemurro.
The 31-year-old is one of the Cubs' most versatile players. Villar has appeared at second base, shortstop, and third base in 32 games for Chicago this season.
The 10-year MLB veteran is hitting .239/.279/.336 with 12 RBIs and four steals in his first campaign with the Cubs.
Chicago signed Villar to a one-year, $6-million deal in the offseason.
